This class focuses on the creative process. You do not have to call yourself a writer to write in this class. We will experiment with poetry, journaling, essay, collage, theater, sound and sights to cut-up our lives and our art, and re-assemble them in new ways. We’ll do exercises to trust your intuition, to help guide you to make synchronicity out of chaos and to write through your senses: touch, taste, smell, sight, sound and feeling.
Each class will includle at least one in-class writing exercise (creative process only, no critique, with optional group sharing of work) and some use of the senses. We will focus on generating new work and setting artistic and lifestyle goals. At the last session you may schedule a one on one appointment with the instructor. Limited to 8 students.
“Successful writers are not the ones who write the best sentences. They are the ones who keep writing. They are the ones who discover what is most important and strangest and most pleasurable in themselves, and keep believing in the value of their work, despite the difficulties.”
