The Songwriting Masterclass with Nathan Brown

Better Lyrics. . . Better Stories. . . Better Songs

Friday April 17 -  5 - 8 pm evening intros to set our intentions and concert by Nathan

Saturday, April 18 - 11 am - 4 pm  Songwriting master class

$225 for both days, includes a Friday evening concert with Nathan

This workshop takes apart the inner workings of song concepts and structures so we can better learn how to put them back together--or together to begin with. We'll also cover the nature and importance of performing our songs, as well as the basic principles of being behind the microphone... and in front of an audience.  This class is especially for poets that are thinking about songwriting, as well as songwriters.

  • Topic and lyric generation
  • How do songs differ from poems?
  • The four key structures, or song designs, to hang our stories on
  • Detail and Description... but just the right amount
  • Rethinking titles and first lines
  • Finding a song's main goal and theme, and sticking to it
  • How to better perform and share our work
  • Thoughts on being a songwriter even if you are not a musician
